Projects and Theses

Students interested in doing a Bachelor Semester Project (BSP), or a Master's thesis under my supervision are required to read the relevant documents on this page.

Please read these documents before contacting me, or immediately after contacting me if you have already done so. They describe the expectations, requirements, and guidelines for projects and theses.

Before contacting me

When contacting me about a BSP or thesis, please make sure that you can provide the following information and that you are aware of the following requirements:

  • Have an idea in mind. When contacting me for a BSP or thesis, you should already have a concrete idea of what you would like to work on. If you do not have a specific project idea yet, you should at least have a clear understanding of the research areas or topics you are interested in.
  • State your academic progress. Please include your current average grade and specify which semester you are currently in.
  • For theses: please also indicate how many exams you still have to complete.
  • Keep track of administrative deadlines. You are responsible for being aware of and respecting all relevant university deadlines and administrative requirements. I cannot keep track of these deadlines on your behalf.
  • Appointments. If you cannot attend a scheduled meeting for any reason, please notify me as soon as possible, preferably at least one day in advance.
  • No remote supervision. I do not supervise BSPs or theses remotely. Supervision requires students to be able to meet in person.
  • Use of AI. I cannot prevent you to use GenAI tools, so at least use them properly and add an AI disclosure. I strongly suggest the reading "Thinking--Fast, Slow, and Artificial" before any use of LLMs.
