Exploring the Surrounding
Published:
Luxembourg is not a big country. To be honest I believe it is even smaller than Valle d’Aosta (the smallest italian region). Notherless, it has a lot to offer in terms of nature and outdoor activities.
Thanks to the proactive attitude of a Spanish Catalan colleague, I had the chance to properly start hiking in the neighborhood. On the 14th of December, we (me, my wife and a bunch of optimistic friends) went to explore the forest West of Differdange. The goal was to reach Rodange from Oberkorn train station.
We started in the morning, and we were supposed to arrive in Rodange in about 3 hours, around lunchtime. Clearly something went wrong. The weather was pleasant, though cloudy and the soil was wet due to the recent rain. But the thing that made us miss our goal – at least concerning the time arrival – was the fact that we decided to set the no-GPS rule. And none of us had done that trail before.
In the end, it was very enjoyable. We reached the small village of Lasauvage where we stopped for lunch (Chez Flavia). I tried for my first time the Raclette, a traditional Swiss and French dish. Definitely recommended. After lunch, we continued our way and eventually reached Rodange, where we took the train back home.
